DSN Group Contributes to Preserving Cultural Heritage

Muara Wahau, April 6, 2024 – PT Dharma Satya Nusantara Tbk (DSN Group) conducted a traditional Wehea Dayak handicraft training event. The event took place from April 2 to 4, 2024, in Nehas Liah Bing Village, with 20 female participants. The training focused on the techniques of making Tepa, the traditional Dayak Wehea hat, from preparing rattan materials and weaving to producing ready-to-market crafts. The Tepa-making process is generally divided into three stages:

a. Preparation:
This includes sorting, drying, splitting, and shaving the rattan.

b. Weaving:
Weaving the shaved rattan until the Tepa takes shape.

c. Finishing:
This involves attaching accessories, velvet fabric, beads, and other embellishments.

The Head of Nehas Liah Bing Village, Mrs. Yosepa Ping S.E., expressed her appreciation for the training program. She noted that the activity could positively impact the Wehea Dayak community, particularly the participants from Nehas Liah Bing village. She hopes that such activities will continue sustainably so that the traditional Wehea Dayak crafts can be passed down and preserved for future generations.

Meanwhile, Anjar Dwi Nugroho, Regional Head of East Kalimantan 1 Wahau, explained that this craft training is a collaborative effort to preserve the cultural heritage of the communities around the company. “This activity is expected not only to attract the interest of the younger generation but also to provide additional income from each sold craft product,” Anjar added.

In addition, DSN Group has consistently participated in the annual Lomplai or Erau festival organized by the Wehea Dayak traditional institution, the local government, and other stakeholders.
