Doctor Hasni Stories: Providing Empathetic Patient Care

Dr. Hasni Hayati is a woman born in Medan on October 10, 1992. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Sumatera Utara in 2016, and now serves as a general practitioner at PT Bima Palma Nugara clinic, East Kalimantan.

Since childhood, Hasni has aspired to become a doctor. This dream was driven by her desire to help others in need, considering none of her family members had a background in healthcare. However, after seven years of working as a doctor, this journey has provided her with significant life experiences.

Becoming a doctor is not easy, especially when dealing with a diverse community, including how patients perceive and receive health-related information and education. Often, families reject necessary treatments due to insufficient understanding. Hence, the role of a doctor is crucial not only in treating patients but also in educating them with accurate information.

Being a doctor is not just a job; it carries significant moral responsibility. We need to have high empathy for the sick and strive for their well-being as best as possible.

Indeed, being a doctor, especially a woman, is not easy. They need to manage their emotions well to ensure that both patients at the clinic and families at home receive adequate attention.

Through this blog article, Dr. Hasni aims to convey that women play a strategically important role in society. In her view, female healthcare practitioners have an advantage in performing their duties more flexibly and adaptively towards diverse patients.

Dr. Hasni also encourages more Indonesian women to contribute to the nation through their respective fields. Don’t be afraid to create, and pursue your dreams without forgetting your innate roles as women.
