Socio Economic Responsibility

The social responsibility program in the economic sector is aimed at supporting community empowerment and development. The beneficiaries are the community, cooperatives, as well as financial and economic development institutions managed by the community.

DSN Group continuously facilitates community economic empowerment by providing various partnership opportunities in the company’s operational activities. This partnership includes the transportation of oil palm fruit, palm oil, kernel oil, empty fruit bunch, fertilizer and others, as well as construction works in employee housing and maintenance of roads which connect villages and plantations.

In compliance with government regulations to facilitate the development of plasma plantations of at least 20% of the HGU area, the Company is committed to developing partnership plantations with the community and supporting them through consultation and technical guidance on the application of best, responsible, and sustainable agricultural practices by involving competent parties, including the government plantation service (Dinas Perkebunan), KEHATI’s Sustainable Palm Oil Support Program in Indonesia (SPOS), and the best agriculture training service providers.

The company has built partnerships with 57 community cooperatives around oil palm plantation areas and involved 37 sengon farmers around a timber product factory in Central Java. The Company ensures that the production of partnership plantations will be part of the supply chain for sustainable palm oil, wood panel and wood flooring production.

The Company also facilitates the development of community-based financial institutions in the form of credit unions (CU). In 2021, asset of a total value of 83 billion Rupiah have been developed by CU Mitra Mandiri and Blom Bea Ling in Muara Wahau District, East Kutai Regency and Satu Hati CU in Tanjung Palas District, Bulungan Regency and Pandulangan Bersatu CU in Bulik District, Regency of Lamandau.

The CUs  provides limited soft loan schemes for local entrepreneurs, provides comparative studies, as well as tax and financial consulting. It is hoped that the existence of these CUs will be able to increase the capacity of financial literacy as well as financial and social services for the community in managing potential and utilizing the existing opportunities.
