DSNG Included in The SRI-KEHATI Index

JAKARTA, NOVEMBER 26, 2020 – PT Dharma Satya Nusantara Tbk (DSNG) has recently been inducted into the SRI-KEHATI Index for the period of December 2020 to May 2021 in recognition of the Company’s commitment to engage in sustainable and responsible business practices. President Director of DSNG, Andrianto Oetomo, said that the inclusion of DSNG in the SRI-KEHATI Index is a testament of the Company’s commitment to implementing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles in all aspects of its business process. “We are committed to implement ESG principles in the way we run the business, both in the business process  as well as in producing our palm oil products in accordance with the sustainability standards and certifications of competent institutions” he said in a statement.

The SRI-KEHATI index selection standards apply the principle of Sustainable Responsible Investment (SRI), as well as environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles. The SRI-KEHATI Index is now the only reference for investment principles that emphasize ESG issues in the Indonesian capital market. The SRI-KEHATI index consists of 25 shares of public companies listed on the IDX, whose composition is reviewed and updated in May and November each year.

According to the Sri Kehati website, since its launch, historically this index has shown better performance compared to several major indices such as the Composite Stock Price Index (CSPI), LQ45, JII, and so on. According to the IDX announcement on November 24, 2020, the IDX together with the KEHATI Foundation has rebalanced the SRI-KEHATI index for the period of December 2020 to May 2021. There were five shares of companies that were recently included replacing five others in the index.  One of the new SRI-KEHATI index member is DSNG. In the last few years, Andrianto Oetomo said, DSNG had intensified its efforts in implementing sustainability standards that reduce waste and pollution, in line with the concept of the circular economy.

This includes minimizing the use non-renewable resources and replacing it with renewable resources, such as processing palm oil mill liquid waste into energy through the development  of the Bio-CNG Plant, which also helps to reduce the use of fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions. “From a social perspective, we have always practiced the principle of shared prosperity to bring about positive social impacts that improve community livelihoods in a proactive and participatory manner.

DSNG has always supported smallholders participation in the palm oil supply chain and continues to work with them to implement a No Deforestation No Peat and No Exploitation (NDPE) policy with them. “Recently DSNG was also ranked 16th in the 2020 Sustainability Policy Transparency Toolkit (SPOTT)  ESG policy transparency assessment by the Zoological Society of London. SPOTT assesses 100 palm oil producers, processors and traders from all over the world on the public disclosure of their policies , operations and commitments to environmental, social and governance (ESG) best practice.  For 2020, DSNG obtained the highest ranking in SPOTT for an Indonesian based public listed plantation company. As well as being most improved plantation company overall in the said assessment, by 38.7%.
