Social Responsibility in Education

The Company nurtures special interest in learning, literacy culture, and promotes to improve delivery performance of formal and non-formal education, both in plantation areas and villages around the Company’s operational areas. The main target groups of this activity are school-age children, teachers, youth, young people, parents, community leaders and schools.

The Company provides and manages the operation of 1 private school through Dharma Satya Nusantara Utama Foundation, as well as providing 6 locations and elementary school buildings inside the plantation area in East Kalimantan.

Other supports include the provision of scholarships, school transportation services, incentives for honorary teachers at primary school, and capacity building for local education professionals, among other thing through comparative studies with literacy activist institutions.

In addition to supporting formal education, the Company also collaborates with communities in the villages around the operational area in organizing Learning Houses (RB), Al-Quran Education Park (TPA), and Sunday Schools. The implementation of RB has been developed in East Kutai Regency and Bulungan Regency, East Kalimantan, as well as in Sintang Regency and Sekadau Regency, West Kalimantan. The Company also provides alternative educational activities for the children of the Punan Dayak tribe in Longsep Hamlet, Miau Baru Village, Kong Beng District and Wonomulyo Village, Tanjung Palas Timur District, Bulungan Regency
