Women and the Dream for Excellent Education in the Remote Area

Her name is Siti Fajarina, S.Pd, commonly known as Ririn, a 31-year-old woman born and raised in the capital city of Jakarta. Ririn graduated from Jakarta State University (UNJ) in 2015 with a major in Social Studies Education.

Ririn has been teaching for 9 years as a social studies teacher at SMP Dharma Utama, Muara Wahau, East Kalimantan. Since childhood, she has aspired to be a teacher, particularly in remote areas of the archipelago. For her, children in remote areas need more attention in education because they will be the future builders of this nation from the outskirts.

For her, working as a teacher is not just about interest, but also a form of worship. Because educating children not only makes them intelligent beings, but also instills good personality and morals.

Certainly, this poses a challenge for her, considering that children in the hinterlands have different characters compared to children where she grew up, such as in Jakarta. To address this challenge, she often conducts additional classes after school so that children have good cognitive abilities and can compete with children in big cities.

Creating a conducive learning environment is a crucial step for her to ensure that the teaching process runs optimally, such as ensuring equal and open interaction between teachers and students. Thus, children can digest the teaching material well without unnecessary pressure.

Being a female teacher also stands on two sides where they have to be good homemakers, as well as mothers to the children at school, ensuring their learning and development processes run smoothly.

Here she feels the importance of the role of women in the progress of education in the homeland. Rini also hopes that more Indonesian women will realize the importance of education for themselves and future generations. Education is the fundamental basis for human development that will determine the future of the nation and country.

She also hopes that more young Indonesians will open their minds to become educators and not be afraid to contribute from the outskirts of the homeland.
