Our two key business units, palm oil and wood products, produce products that are consumed and exported all over the world through various supply chains and intermediaries. As such, our products have to conform with various quality, heatlh and safety specifications, regulations and certifications by our partners or buyers.

We are committed to ensure that our products meets the quality, health and safety requirements of our customers.

As such in our Palm Oil Business, our product quality, health and safety is monitored and controlled by our Quality Officer in each palm oil factory. Each of our palm oil mills and kernel factory are equipped with the necessary laboratory and equipment to monitor and perform the required test on our products. The Quality Officer reports to the General Manager of Operations to ensure independence and their results are also reported to our Technical Operations head.

In our Wood Business our Wood Quality and Inspection Officer monitors and controls all aspects of our product quality, heath and safety using our industry specific laboratory and testing center. The said officer reports to the Director of Operations for our Wood Business.

Since 85% of palm oil is used for food applications. Consequently, issues related to food safety and nutrition have always been a major concern, both for producers and consumers of palm oil. Our buyers demand from us very specific quality, health and safety specifications. Amongst othes, these relate to Free Fatty Acid, Degrees of Bleachability Index, contaminant and dirt, as well as other quality as required by refineries food safety standard. In addtion to RSPO and ISPO, our palm oil products also meet ISCC certifications. These certifications, amongst others, would regularly audit our operations and ensure that we practise numerous quality, health and safety precautions in our production methods. These include:

  1. Segregation of oils and contaminants in our Palm Oil Mills and Kernel Factory
  2. The management and use of chemicals & pesticides in our agricultural processes
  3. The use of natural biological predators against insecticides or adverse chemicals
  4. The use of organic fertilizer from our palm biomass to supplement our fertilization program

Our Wood products conform to several major international product quality, health and safety requirements as we directly export to many parts of the world. Amongst others, we have the following certifications:

  1. FloorScore : is a certification program related to indoor air quality for flooring products. It ensures that flooring materials meet specific standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can have a positive impact on indoor air quality.
  2. CARB : The California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulates and monitors various aspects of air quality and environmental impact, including emissions from wood products.
  3. JAS : Japanese Agricultural Standards certifications established by the Japanese government to ensure the quality and safety of agricultural and food products.

As these product quality, safety and health certifications and regulations are important to our customers, we regularly conduct trainings on product safety, especially for our wood product. Samples from both our wood and palm oil products are regularly tested to ensure its quality and safety. Any irregular or out of specification process or products or laboratory tests are routinely scrutinized and assessed to ensure ensure product consistency and conformance. Tools that are used to ensure product quality, health and safety include incident investigations processes, PDCA and corrective actions which at times may involve reviewing our SOPs.
